Welcome to THE OSCHOLARS, a website for the exchange of information on research, publications and productions concerning Oscar Wilde and his Worlds. We are committed to free, open access, with no restrictions on downloading, although we request citation and linking where appropriate.  Submissions are welcome, especially offers to review.

THE OSCHOLARS was founded in 2001 as a simple e-newsletter on a website provided by Goldsmiths College, University of London.  From June 2002 to October 2003, and from October 2006 to December 2007 our issues were housed at, courtesy Patrick O’Sullivan. THE OSCHOLARS was then re-established in ampler form at, where it engendered a family of journals devoted to different aspects of the culture of the fin de siècle.  With the departure of our webmaster in 2010, the group was dissolved and many of the pages were removed and links broken.  In the autumn of 2012, THE OSCHOLARS was re-established on this WordPress site, and all pre-2012 material entrusted to me for publication, is gradually being reposted here.

Note: In February 2017, the above mentioned webmaster of the site removed all remaining access to it, on the grounds that ‘a certain person’ had been copying pages.    The ‘certain person’ was in fact myself, who had gathered, edited, and sent in for uploading everything that was published in THE OSCHOLARS.

It should be noted that the home page of the original OSCHOLARS carried, as this page does, a notice to the effect that all material was freely accessible for downloading and copying.

Use the titles in the header to take you to our various sections.

Good reading!
